Festival goers will find this year’s Ohio Celtic Festival situated in the parklike setting of the Mentor Civic Center in Mentor, Oh. The annual event, featuring more than 150 musicians, singers, bagpipe bands and entertainers from around the world takes place this year on September 20, 21 & 22.

The festival’s musical lineup is one of the most outstanding to date. The park will pulse all weekend long with Celtic rock music by The Screaming Orphans, Padraig Stevens with Leo Moran of the Saw Doctors, Off Kilter, The American Rogues and Mary’s Lane. Those who enjoy the more traditional sounds of Irish music have not been overlooked. Returning due to popular demand will be Colm Keegan from Celtic Thunder, Donál Clancy & Rory Makem and the Narrowbacks. New to this year’s festival are The Byrne Brothers and Gaelic Brew. Along with national and international acts, the Northeast Ohio Irish music scene will be well-represented with The New Barleycorn, Brigid Cross, No Strangers Here, The Mad Macs and Andrew McManus along with always popular entertainment by championship pipe bands and Irish dancers.

The Mentor Civic Center’s state-of-the-art amphitheater provides an ideal setting for this year’s festival. The facility was unveiled in 2017 to serve the Mentor community as an active center for advancing performing arts and has become one of northeast Ohio’s most popular outdoor venues in less than 2 years.

The festival is selling advance tickets online for its very popular whiskey tastings, sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey and Caskmate. The tasting workshops will highlight whiskey crafting history and processes. Seating is limited, with any remaining tickets to be sold at the event.

Kids have not been overlooked and have their own area with inflatables, activities, magic shows and more. Rounding out the festival will be a host of vendors with a tempting array of foods as well as Celtic merchants selling hand-crafted jewelry, pottery and embroidered fashions.

The Mentor Civic Center is located in Incredible Lake County Ohio at 8500 Civic Center Boulevard in Mentor, OH 44060. Event hours are Friday 5:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Saturday 12 pm - 11:30 pm, and Sunday 12 pm - 8:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Sunday morning. On Friday, August 11, The Ohio Celtic Festival will throw open its gates, offering free admission for all. The fest is teaming up with the Palumbo Ohio Firefighters Foundation and the Police Memorial Society in support of their efforts to raise money for their injured and disabled fellow officers.

Instead of admission, local firefighters and police officers will be at the gates collecting donations. "The free admission Friday Night at the Ohio Celtic Festival is our way of providing support for those who serve and protect each and every one of us every day," said Festival Director Patrick Coyne.

Firefighters will be collecting for a special cause. Their share of donations will go to the Palumbo Ohio Firefighters Foundation. The Palumbo Ohio Firefighters Foundation was established earlier this year in honor of Michael Palumbo. Michael was a captain with the Beachwood Fire Department since 1992 and is the namesake of Ohio's Michael Louis Palumbo Jr. Act, which provides presumptive workers compensation for firefighters diagnosed with occupational cancers. Proceeds from this event will be used in part for the expenses of Willoughby Firefighter Seamus Culligan, who is currently battling the same disease and the Michael Palumbo Family.

This year's festival features one of the most exciting musical line-ups to date, a full complement of Celtic and American foods, and a wide selection of beverages anchored by Guinness beer stations. The park will pulse with the music of the Off Kilter, The Fenians, The American Rogues, The Gothard Sisters, Emmet Cahill, Makem & Clancy, Keith Harkin and more.

The N.E.Ohio music scene will be well represented by super talented performers including The New Barleycorn, Brigid's Cross, No Strangers Here, Mossy Moran, Mad Macs plus internationally acclaimed schools of dance and award-winning marching bands.

The Ohio Celtic Festival will take place at Classic Park in Eastlake, OH. Festival hours are Friday 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm. On Saturday, Noon to 11:30 pm. On Sunday, everyone who brings two non–perishable food items for the local food bank between 10 am and Noon will receive free admission. Festival closes at 8:00 pm on Sunday.

Providing the magic will be more than 150 top-notch Irish musicians and singers, plus three bagpipe bands and dancers from across the US and around the world. In all, there will be six stages of live entertainment going on all weekend long.

Refreshing beverages will also be on hand, from hand-squeezed lemonade to Ireland's famed Guinness Stout and Harp.

The event kicks off one of the first Irish-themed festivals in the region, and drew nearly 10,000 people in its inaugural year. Festival director Pat Coyne was encouraged by last year's attendance and is looking forward to welcoming the crowds again. "The Festival is a great way to celebrate the large Irish- American presence here in Northeast Ohio," said Coyne. "Through music, food, and dancing, we truly show the best of Irish heritage and culture. It's an event you won't want to miss!"
